Purpose
IIAIM brings together people from many professions, countries and backgrounds. This code sets the standard of conduct that keeps our events and communities safe, respectful and productive.
Who this code applies to
This code applies to everyone who takes part in IIAIM activities. It covers members of governing bodies, staff, faculty, speakers, participants, volunteers, sponsors and exhibitors. It applies at in-person and online events, in online spaces and in collaborations.
Expected conduct
- Treat everyone with respect and courtesy.
- Engage with ideas, not individuals, and disagree professionally.
- Respect confidentiality, including patient privacy and unpublished work.
- Credit the work and ideas of others.
- Follow the instructions of event organizers, particularly on safety.
Unacceptable conduct
- Harassment, intimidation or discrimination of any kind, including on the basis of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, age or national origin.
- Sexual harassment or unwelcome sexual attention.
- Recording or photographing people or sessions without consent.
- Disclosure of patient information or of other people’s confidential data.
- Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification or other research misconduct.
- Disruption of talks, sessions or online discussions.
- Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern.
How to report a concern
If you experience or witness unacceptable conduct, please tell the event organizers on site. You may also write to ceo@iiaim.com or use the contact form and choose “Complaint or concern.” We handle every report promptly and as confidentially as the circumstances allow.
What happens next
IIAIM reviews every report and may speak with the people involved. We then take proportionate action. Action may include a warning, removal from an event or activity, or exclusion from future activities. You may appeal a decision through our complaints procedure.
This code supplements, and does not replace, any rights or obligations under applicable law.
