Effective date: October 1, 2026.
Purpose
IIAIM’s education, research and statements must be trustworthy. This policy ensures that personal and financial interests are disclosed and managed, so they do not influence our work.
Who must disclose
Members of the Board and its committees, officers, staff, faculty and speakers must disclose. So must everyone who plans an educational activity, and every author and reviewer.
What must be disclosed
- All financial relationships in the past 24 months with any company whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, reselling or distributing health care products used by or on patients. This includes AI and software medical devices. Relationships include employment, consulting, advisory roles, speaking fees, stock or stock options, royalties and research funding.
- Intellectual property, patents or ownership interests related to the topic of the activity.
- Non-financial interests that a reasonable person could consider relevant, such as leadership of a competing initiative or a close personal relationship.
When to disclose
Each person discloses on appointment, every year thereafter, before each educational activity or publication, and whenever circumstances change.
How conflicts are managed
- The Ethics and Integrity Committee reviews every disclosure. Members with a conflict do not take part in the review.
- The committee manages relevant conflicts, for example through peer review of content, a limited role or recusal from decisions.
- Owners and employees of companies that produce health care products may not plan or control IIAIM educational content.
- We share disclosures with learners before each educational activity, and we publish the disclosures of our leadership.
- We keep disclosure records for at least six years.
Breaches
Failure to disclose a relevant interest may lead to removal from a role or activity and correction of any affected content.
This policy operates alongside the conflict-of-interest duties that Texas law places on the directors and officers of nonprofit corporations.
